Recommended Solution to Transport Two Aventon E-Bikes W/ A Opus OP 15 Trailer
Question:
Im looking to mount something like the Swagman Straddler to my Opus OP 15. Nothing else seems to work, given the trailer configuration two spare tires are mounted on the rear. The problem with the Swagman is the weight limitation. Two Aventon Level bikes weigh 116 pounds and a carrier Yakima Hitch Bike Racks - Y36FR 40 pounds, putting this all well over the weight limit of the Straddler. Removing the batteries reduces the weight by 16 pounds, yet still exceeds the rated capacity by 40 pounds. Are you aware of anything else I might consider?

What I recommend you do is use the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # HLY84FR in conjunction with the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount with 2" Receiver for Bike Racks and Cargo Carriers # D210.
This dual adapter will give you the ability to attach a bike rack to your vehicle's hitch as well as allow you to tow your Opus OP 15.
This bike rack has a maximum weight capacity of 80-lbs per bike, for a total capacity of 160-lbs, as well as a maximum tire width of 5" so you'll have plenty of capacity for your Aventon bikes.
Since this option will utilize the hitch on your vehicle you don't have to worry about the spare tire being in the way, the only thing you'll want to verify is that you have enough room between the trailer and the bike rack. This rack when installed will add about 29" to the back of your vehicle so you'll want to make sure you have enough space.
