Can You Use Weight Distribution on a 2006 Toyota 4Runner with Self-Leveling Suspension

We have a 2006 Toyota V8 Ltd 4Runner with a self leveling system. Can we install a weight distributing hitch with this system? Thanks!

Yes, you can install weight distribution systems on a vehicle with self-leveling suspension systems like your 2006 Toyota V8 4Runner.

The way you would set it up is to connect the trailer and allow the suspension to level it. Then you would put the spring bars into position. This may cause the system to re-level itself but that is normal. If you can turn the self-leveling system off, you could do so but on many vehicles this is not an option.

When picking out a weight distribution systems the most important factor to consider is the loaded tongue weight of the setup. The weight of any cargo behind your rear axle needs to also be considered as tongue weight.
