Recommended RV Water Heater Replacement For A 2002 Fleetwood Bounder Motorhome

Question:

I have an older motorhome 2002 Bounder diesel that needs a new water heater. Is there a direct replacement for an Attwood GC10A-3E ?

There isn't a "direct" replacement for the Atwood GC10A-3E RV water heater but we do still have an option for you with the Furrion RV Tankless Water Heater # FR98SR. Motorhome's typically have a special door for their water heater that matches the color of the motorhome, which usually can't be used with another model water heater because of how they mount. If the door has its own mounting flange then you might be able to get away with pulling it off and reinstalling it with the # FR93FR, but that would also depend on the exhaust tube of the unit lining up with the vent in the original door.

If that's not possible then the # FR98SR comes with a 16" x 16" door, which should be enough to cover the 16" tall by 15-1/2" wide GC10A-3E, if not then we do have a 16" x 18" # FR48SR and 18" x 18" # FR68SR option. You'll need to use some butyl tape # AL28FJ around on the inside of the mounting flanges of the door and unit, as well as some non-sag sealant # 344270341437-1 around the outside edge of the door for a watertight seal.

I looked up some pictures of a 2002 Fleetwood Bounder and it looks like the water heater is really close to the passenger rear wheel so you'll need to ensure there's enough room for the door to fit with the fender flare.
