Recommended 4.80/4.00-8 Trailer Tires For a Vintage Tent Trailer Weighing 600LB When Loaded

Question:

I plan on ordering a set of 4.80x8 tires for a vintage tent trailer that weighs 400#, loaded it would weigh 600#, I would like a smooth ride without sway, would the load B 590# 60psi or load C 745# 90psi be better?

Helpful Expert Reply:

I recommend using the Load Range B # AM10002 4.80/4.00-8 tire. With each tire rated for 590lbs there is more than enough support for your loaded trailer at 600lbs. The Load Range C # AM10004 with its rating of 745lbs will have a stiffer sidewall which will cause the tire to bounce more than absorb road shock which will create a more rigid ride.
