Will Hands-Free Liftgate Work on 2023 Toyota Highlander Limited When Installing Trailer Hitch

Question:

Hi, I am getting a 2023 Highlander Hybrid Limited AWD. Im concerned that the hitch will interfere with kick sensor for the tail gate. The dealership states that when installed at the factory during build they offset the sensor to one side so the hitch does not interfere. Since they are not installing them at the factory right now, and I have installed one of your hitches on my 2018 Subaru Outback, I know I can do it but need an answer to the sensor question? Can you help me?

By and large, the liftgate works for most people after hitch installation, you just need to kick your foot to the left or right of the receiver. And while there is a small possibility the function will be lost, the one that we've seen the most success with that fits your 2023 Toyota Highlander Limited is the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # EH35VR.

When we installed the # EH35VR on a '22 Highlander the liftgate did still work, so I'm confident your liftgate will still work when the hitch is installed.

Also, in the interest of being thorough, I wanted to add that if you plan on using the hitch for towing and need a 4-way, the correct part is the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # TK99FR.
