Can 4-Way to 7-Way Adapter be Used with Curt Echo and Charge Battery
Question:
I have a 2011 grand Cherokee w/o tow package. I currently a 4 way to 7 way adapter Curt 57184 hooked up to tow a boat. I would now like to utilize the trailers electric brakes. Am I able to use this adapter and run power to it from the battery? I already have the curt echo 51180 system and plan on using this. Any suggestions?

Expert Reply:
The Curt 4-way to 7-way adapter you have which is like part # 30717 will allow you to connect to the vehicle battery with it's black wire. You'd need to run a length of 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 (sold by foot) up to the vehicle battery through a breaker like part # 9510 and you'd be set.
The battery will still charge when using the # C51180 as well.
