Troubleshooting Tailgate Lock # LH-003 Not Locking On a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado

2007 chevy silverado - installed latch but when I turn key and the latch moves up into lock position it will not lock.

It sounds like the locking arm on the Integrated OEM Tailgate Lock # LH-003 may not be fulling turning into position. If you did not test the latch before you installed it I recommend removing the latch to verify it will operate correctly outside the truck. There could be a small burr on the either the latch or the moving arm which is preventing the key from fully locking in place.
In the event the latch is fully turning to the lock position but you are still able to open the tailgate the arms inside the handle may be bent which is allowing the tailgate handle to still open the latches.
If the problem is the cylinder will not latch both when installed or removed the lock cylinder itself is defective and will need to be exchanged.
