How To Choose Correct Replacement Axle and Leaf Springs for a Boat Trailer
Question:
I want to replace the leaf springs, axles, and all related hardware on my tandem axle boat trailer. The problem I am having is, I cannot find a plate on my trailer with capacity information. The boat, full of fuel, weighs close to 5000 lbs. How should I proceed?

In order to find the correct replacement leaf spring for a trailer you first need to start by noting the type whether that be slipper or double eye. Then, you'll need to measure their unloaded length via jacking up the trailer. If the springs are worn they will measure longer than their replacement. Lastly, you will need to note the axle capacity which is found on the tag in the center of the beam. Please note, the number of leaves does not really denote capacity as leaves have different thicknesses. Once you have all this info you can choose the correct replacement from the list below. The springs should be replaced in pairs as well. The 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles part # e54SR is a pretty common replacement measuring 25-1/8".
In order to choose the correct replacement axle for a trailer you'll first want to start with the weight capacity which you should have found for the leaf springs. Then, you'll need to measure the hub face (center of hub face to center of hub face) and spring center (center of spring center to center of spring center). This will then give you the info needed to pick out the correct replacement axle for your trailer. I have also attached a video I did to help others with this same thing so be sure to give that a watch.
The Trailer Axle Beam part # e38GR for example is a 3,500 lb axle which measures measures 89" long at the hub face and 74" at the spring center though these can be moved. I have attached a full list of all our other axles you can choose from once you have the info above.
Unfortunately, we have no way to look up leaf springs or an axle for any one particular trailer.
