How To Determine If the Reese Weight Distribution Can Be Moved From Old Camper To New Camper
Question:
I have a Reese WD system that uses a 54970 receiver. It was on an 2008 Jayco Jay Feather 311LGT I now have a 2018 Rockwood Mini Lite 2304KS. Can I use that WD setup on the Rockwood? Thanks!

You may be able to reuse the Reese weight distribution hitch from your 2008 Jayco Jay Feather 311LGT on your 2018 Forest River Rockwood Mini Lite 2304KS, but you will need to verify the weight rating for your spring bars. Your Jayco had a dry hitch weight of 820lbs and the Rockwood is 653lbs.
The Reese Weight Dist Shank # RP54970 you have can be used on several different Reese systems. For an example the Kit # RP66542 can be used on trailers up to 12,000lbs with a hitch weight of 600-1,200lbs. You will need to find a label on your weight distribution bars to verify exactly what the bars are rated for. If you need help finding the correct capacity of the bars please let me know what the information is on the bars. Otherwise send me some images of your hitch and I can determine what system you may have and if there is another way to identify the system you have.
