Too Much Slop When Starting and Stopping with Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch  

Question:

I have a demco model 6081 auto slide and when I start to go foward the pin slides to the back and when I stop here it comes to the front lol . makes for a really bad ride. Is there an adjustment that I need make or is there something broken that I cant see? I have a 365rl columbus. Thank you

In regards to a Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch like part # DM8550034, there are not adjustments for the locking jaw mechanism. If there is too much slop inside the jaws with the kingpin they are either too far worn or damaged and need replaced. This would require a new head assembly, the Replacement Head for Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches part # DM6081.

That said, the slop you are feeling may be attributed to the base and in which case there is an adjustment for this which I have attached for you below, directly from the owner's manual.
