Recommended Brake Controller For A 2006 Ford Van With Factory 7 Connector
Question:
Hello. I read a number of your articles but still need some help. I need to add a trailer brake controller to 2006 Ford E-350. It is 176inch wheelbase. Was Budget 16 ft box truck. It as 4-wire bare wire trailer connection box at the rear. My trailer has 7-blade round connector. I located the yinch where 4-wire to rear bumper plugs into the wiring harness. There is a round 4-pin connector on the Yinch and I suspect that has the blue that I need for electric brakes. Does that seem right? Also, I need to connect the brake controller in the cab. Do you have a clue about where the brake controller connection is located? How many pins in the connection that I am looking for to be able to plug in the brake controller? I will be towing a 23 ft travel trailer. Max weight is 7700#. Which brake controllers do you recommend? Thank you your assistance on this.

I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR for your 2006 Ford Van. I like this controller over the others we offer because the main unit installs out of site with only the control knob showing on your dash, which will give your Ford Van a clean factory look. You will also need the Plug-and-Play Wiring Harness # RED87FR. One end will plug into the Tow Pro Controller and the other end will plug into the connector underneath the dash. I attached an installation video below. If you want it around the 11:19 mark it will show you where to connect the adapter.
If you have any further questions please feel free to reach back out to me anytime and I would be more than happy to further assist you in your towing endeavors.
