Solution for Hitch Extension With 1,000 Pound TW and 10,000 Pound GTW Capacity on 2000 F-350

Question:

Hi, I need a class 4, 14-16” hitch extension that goes to a 2x2 receiver . It has a 2 5/16 ball. Vehicle is a 2000 f350 dually and the trailer is a 20’ 9990gvw enclosed trailer. By my calculations, the extension has to be rated for 10000 lb towing and 1000 lb tongue weight. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Have a good weekend.

I have a possible solution, but none of the 14-16" extensions have a high enough capacity. The only thing that comes close is the Gen-Y # GY89SR which has a gross towing weight of 10,000 lbs, but the max tongue weight is only 500 lbs. This would also reduce the capacity of your hitch by 50% like many hitch extenders do.

If you can handle it being slightly shorter, what you could use instead is the Brophy Ball Mount for 2" Hitch # BH20. This is 13-1/4" long and has the capacity you need. You will also need # 19286 for a hitch ball.

If that is too short, the only other option is the TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension # TLE1521 which is 21" long. However, this will require a TorkLift hitch on your F-350 like the # TLF1002. It will also require the use of weight distribution system like the # BLU75FR since the capacity isn't high enough without it. With weight distribution, the TorkLift extension has a 14,000 lb max GTW and 1,400 lb max TW.
