Recommended Hitch for a 2022 Honda CR-V EXL Hybrid
Question:
We have a 2022 Honda CRV EXL Hybrid. Wed like to install a hitch and hitch mounted folding wobble free platform bike rack for 2 hybrid style bikes. Is this possible on this car? Do we need to first mount a hitch and, if so, what type? If we can do this, will the auto cargo door work?

Yes, it is possible to add a hitch and a platform bike rack to your 2022 Honda CR-V EXL Hybrid. I recommend the etrailer Hitch item # e98848. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your Honda with included hardware. I confirmed with the manufacturer this hitch does fit the hybrid models.
This is a class III hitch with a 2" receiver. It has a 3,500 lbs towing capacity, and a 525 lbs maximum tongue weight. The 2" receiver will give you the most options for bike racks and the highest capacity. This hitch is made in the USA.
All of the hitches for your CR-V will somewhat affect the auto cargo door or what is commonly referred to as the lift assist function. What this means is that the area directly in front of and right around the 2" x 2" receiver will be blocked. You will want to move your foot to the left or right of the receiver to find a spot that isn't blocked by the sensor.
On of the best all around bike racks we offer is the Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes item # S94FR. This platform bike rack would be perfect for whatever style hybrid bikes you own. It has a 70 lbs capacity per bike and weighs only 60 lbs.
The clamps of the Swagman E-Spec attach to your bikes frame which not only gives you many options for different styles of bike frames but it also avoids the potential for damaging any fenders you may have.
I have linked a review video below that will show you the functions of this bike rack.
If either of your bikes have tires wider than 3" you will need the Fat Tire Adapter Kit for E-Spec Bike Racks item # S64679.
