Can You Trim Off Some Of The Lower Bend On The Stromberg Carlson RV Ladder To Fit A Motorhome Bumper

Question:

I do understand that the LA-401 ladder can be cut to the length that is required to fit my RV, but my question is more about the lower bottom Jinch section where it mounts to the RV. The curved end where it attaches to the RV would need to have approximately 2 inches cut off due to the RV molded bumper section that sticks out from the RV back wall by about 2 inches. So the out of the box 4 standoffs have a 5 inch standoff, but the Jinch section where it attaches to the RV would only be 3 inch standoff. See attached picture below where you can see the red circle of the area that would need to have approximately 2 inches cut off. I cannot raise the ladder higher because the taillights would be in the way. I can’t move the ladder to the right to the middle of the back wall, away from the taillights, because the vent on the roof would be in the way on the top section. Kind of stuck on mount it as in the pictures.

You could cut off the two inches that you need from the lower bend on the # LA-401BA but you would need to find a way to crimp the end of the pipes to hold onto the mounting bracket. The ends of the pipes are simply rolled outwards to prevent the bracket from falling off. Most likely your local hardware store will carry some sort of pipe end shaping tool for you to accomplish this.
