Wiring Trailer Lights for 2009 Pontiac Vibe Without Using Converter

Question:

I want to wire my 2009 Vibe for trailer lights but I really dont want to use the powered converter. I would like to replace all my trailer lights with LED-style lights to reduce current draw and then wire the trailer with a separate set of lights to use as the turn signals, therefore hopefully allowing direct wiring connections. The regular stop and tail lights functions would be handled by one 4-pin connector, allowing the trailer to be used by anyone with a properly wired 4-pin plug. I would use another 4-pin plug for wiring the turn signals in so that when I use the trailer I would have turn signals I never tow anything with my car except my small utility trailer. As far as you know, would this work OK or is there some problem with not having the converter in the line to isolate the car and trailer? I have the converter that you sell but I bought it basically to get the connectors so that I wouldnt have to use scotchlocks which may cut into the wiring.

Probably the easiest way to handle this situation would be to use a 5-way connector, part # 20017 for the trailer and part # HM37908 for the vehicle end. Use the extra wire for the brake light lead. If the trailer needs to be towed by another vehicle, simply use the 4 to 5 Way Adapter, part # 47515.
