How To Choose Correct Replacement Leaf Springs for a Pontoon Boat Trailer

Question:

Could I install these on my Pontoon boat trailer? It has a 2inch sq 3500# axle with 3500# springs at the moment but it seems like they are pretty much maxed out. Please let folks know to check their suspension components, especially on older trailers so this doesnt happen to them. The right side leaf spring broke in half, luckily I was just pulling on to the road.

In order to find the correct replacement leaf spring for a trailer you first need to start by noting the type whether that be slipper or double eye. Then, you'll need to measure their unloaded length via jacking up the trailer. If the springs are worn they will measure longer than their replacement. Lastly, you will need to note the axle capacity which is found on the tag in the center of the beam. Please note, the number of leaves does not really denote capacity as leaves have different thicknesses. Once you have all this info you can choose the correct replacement from the list below. If you choose to go with a higher rated option, this is fine just know the ride may be a little more stiff. The springs should be replaced in pairs as well. The 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 5,000-lb Trailer Axles part # e44SR measures 25-1/4".

Unfortunately, we have no way to look up leaf springs for any one particular trailer.
