Trunk Mounted Bike Rack Recommendation for 2014 Forester with Spoiler
Question:
I just bought a 2014 Subaru Forester Touring with a spoiler. I would like to carry two bikes without a trailer hitch since that kind of carrier pretty much means the rack is always there. Ive seen photos and videos of the Thule Raceway 2 Bike Carrier Trunk Mount but am still concerned as none of these are of a new Forester with a spoiler. Is this the correct bike rack to get for my new car? I dont want to get something that will cause any damage to the car or that wont be 100 secure in transporting 2 bikes. Thanks,

Since your 2014 Subaru Forester has a spoiler I would recommend you go with the Malone Hanger Trunk Bike Rack for 3 Bikes - Adjustable Arms # MPG2139. This rack is specifically designed for vehicles with spoilers and since you expressed concern about a trunk rack damaging your vehicle, this rack is designed to minimizes the pressure on the spoiler. You could also use the premium Thule OutWay part # TH45JV that you referenced. It is also a confirmed fit, but it would also put pressure on your spoiler. Both of these racks could potentially damage your spoiler. I attached a review video for these racks for you to check out.
To make sure that you do not damage your Forester, I highly suggest adding a hitch # e98839 and using a bike rack like the Thule Camber # TH9058.
If you plan on carrying any women's or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes, you may also be interested in purchasing a Hollywood Racks Bike Adapter Bar # HRBA-PRO to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance.
