Do I Need to Use Front Lights on 2018 Ford Focus When Flat Towing It

Question:

Hi, Im setting up to tow a 2018 Ford Focus sedan without adaptive cruise control behind our Class C RV. I am looking at the wiring kits, and they all seem to be set up to run the rear lights and turn signals only, not ALL of the running lights and turn signals. Is there a kit that I can buy to accomplish this, or am I able to wire the front markers and turn signals into the kit for the rears? Looking forward to your answer, and thanks!

Thanks for reaching out!

For your application I recommend using the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-154 and then pairing that with the Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain Tow Bar # RM-676 because it completes the wiring required for your 2018 Ford Focus lights and it comes with LED lights on the arms for visibility.

The reason why the front lights aren't used is because the towed vehicle is right behind the motorhome so there is no point for it. If you'd like to find a way to tie-in the front lights on your Focus to the wiring you're welcome to do so but this would be uncharted territory since only the rear lights are needed.

For a complete flat towing setup you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter. If you do not have all of these components just let me know and I can make some additional recommendations for you.
