Recommended Flat Towing Components For A 2023 Jeep Wrangler Willys Edition

Question:

I’m looking to set my 2023 Jeep Willys up for flat towing. I have a blue ox tow bar 10,000lb capacity. Can you direct me to a tow plate, wiring harness and Air Force breaking system. My motor home is set up for air already. Thanks

Definitely, you'll need the follow items to safely flat tow your 2023 Jeep Wrangler:

Baseplate: Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1139. This baseplate is designed to fit a standard factory bumper. If you have and aftermarket bumper then let me know and I can look through some other options.

Tow Bar Wiring Kit: I see you were looking at the # BLU79FR, you could go with this, but I personally avoid plug-in options as they tend to have the most issues and there isn't really anything you can do to fix them if there is an issue besides completely replacing them.

Instead I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 unless you have ParkSense Proximity Sensors, in which case you will need part # RM47ZR and # RM-146-7 instead.

Braking System: The Demco Air Force One Supplemental Braking System w/ Wireless Coachlink # DM26VR is a great choice for flat towing your Jeep. The couchlink monitor will allow you to see when the brakes are being depressed in your Jeep and will also make an audible noise.

If the brake lights do not work with the towed vehicle's ignition key turned to the "tow" position, you will also need a brake light switch. For this you can use part # RM-751000. Don't use the fuse tap they give you to power this. Instead run the line directly to the battery with an in-line fuse holder like # C58470-1. Fuse taps tend to be unreliable over time.

Safety Cables: If you need new safety cables then I recommend the RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables # RM-643.

If you have any other questions let me know. Happy Towing!
