How Much Clearance Should Be Between Bed Rails and 5th Wheel Trailer Overhang
Question:
I’m new at pulling an rv. How high should the hitch be in the truck bed. I guess what I’m really asking is ho much clearance should be between the truck bed rails and the rv?

In general you want 4 to 6 inches between the top of the truck's bed rails and overhang of the trailer. You also need to be sure that the trailer is also sitting level too. Sometimes in order to have the correct bed rail clearance the nose of the trailer ends up too high and you have to install a lift on the trailer like the part # RR23QX to allow for both.
