Recommended Replacement Tires For a Boat Trailer With 185/75R14 Passenger Car Tires
Question:
I bought a boat and trailer with 185/75R14 tires on it a couple years ago and just got a flat on it and need to replace both tires. I realize that this is a car tire size and not a trailer tire now that Ive been shopping around for replacements. Is there a tire size that would be close in size and compatible with 14inch rims? All I see are 205/75R14s which I believe have too large of a radius for the wheel wells on this trailer. Do I just need to get different wheels and tires all together?

If the Karrier ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10234 is too large to fit on your boat trailer you will need to go down to smaller wheel size. This tire is 26.3" in diameter and 8.1" wide. It is designed to fit a 5" to 6-1/2" wide 14" wheel. This will be 1.4" larger in diameter and 0.8" wider. than your current 185/75R14 currently on your trailer.
I recommend the Karrier ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire with 13" Galvanized Wheel # AM31994 if the above tire will not fit. This tire is 24.1" tall and 7" wide. It will be 0.8" smaller in overall diameter and 0.3" wider. The galvanized wheel will not corrode and rust as quickly as the painted wheels giving you increased life for your wheels. This wheel uses a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern and each wheel and tire is rated for up to 1,610lbs of weight with a speed rating of 81mph and a 5 year tire warranty.
