Tandem Axle Hanger Kit # APT9 Recommendation for a Homemade Trailer

Question:

I purchased a homemade trailer. The hangers and equalizers are worn out. It currently has 2inch tall hangers front, center, and rear, and 7inch equalizers with mono leaf springs. I am told it has 9000 lb axles. Based on the pictures of the springs you have online they are 6000 lb. springs. The springs are 1-3/4inch the hangers are 2. Can I use your APT9 which has 2-1/2inch hangers and a 7-3/4inch equalizer? What is the reason for a taller center hanger and does a longer equalizer require the front and rear hangers to be mounted further apart? I have not found these questions addresses in your help section.

The suspension kit that would be the closest to what you have on your trailer would definitely be the Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit # APT9. The minor dimensional differences would not cause an issue.

Since the equalizers would be 3/4 of an inch longer I would recommend you compensate for that with hanger spacing.

The distance on center between the spring hanger bolt holes for dual axle setups, with the # APT9 Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit, should be 29-1/2 inches for double eye springs that measure 25-1/4 inches on center between the spring eyes and for axles that are 3 inches in diameter. This will put your axle spacing somewhere between 33-1/2 and 34 inches.
