Which Brake Shoe Replacement Can Fit 4,400 lb Dexter Hub/Drums
Question:
Can I use Dexter K71-681 brake shoes instead of the more expensive K71-698-00 shoes on my Forest River RV with 4000lb 10-F axle. They look the same?

Expert Reply:
If you have Dexter 4,400 lb trailer axle brake assemblies the correct brake shoe set you'd need is the part # K71-698-00. While the # K71-681 is similar in dimension it can only be used with 3,500 lb brake assemblies.
