Will the EcoHitch for a 2022 Tesla Model Y Trigger Backup Sensors

Question:

Hi eTrailer team, I recently purchased the EcoHitch Invisi Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2inch for my 2022 Tesla Model Y and am planning to install it myself with help from your installation videos. I have read some reviews where its mentioned that if the Tesla Towing package software is not installed then the installed tow hitch and bike rack can cause the back sensor to get triggered. Please let me know if you have any feedback on this and if its a real issue then how to solve it. Regards,

In regards to the EcoHitch Invisi Trailer Hitch Receiver part # EH39FR which is a fit for a 2022 Tesla Model Y, the installation won't affect the reverse/backup sensors. That said, the system could be triggered when using a bike rack and placing the vehicle in reverse. This is not just a protentional problem on this vehicle but for many others as well. That said, it's not a guarantee that it will happen. I checked out some of our reviews for this hitch and there were not any reported instances of the problem you described. If the issue does occur and you wish to remedy this, the manufacturer should be able to recalibrate the system even without factory components.

If you're looking for a bike rack, the Thule Hitching Post Pro part # TH934XTR gets my vote and it will be least likely to trigger the backup sensors due to the singular center upright.
