There is a template or at least dimensional specs in the instructions for Gooseneck hitch # 8339-4438 which I have linked for you. I recommend using the actual template, # 6425, to make the installation a lot easier and quicker. I have included a link to a video that, in part, shows how the template is used. Go to about the 3:46 mark in the video to see our installer use the template.
