Recommended 2" Weight Distribution Shank with 6 Inches Plus of Drop

Question:

The difference between the higher receiver placement on my 2018 Suburban, and the hitch on my 1971 Airstream is creating a problem where my current hitch is insufficent to overcome the height difference, and finding a sufficient to get the ball and load bearing head down to the lower point that older Airstreams had seems impossible. So, rather than being level, the high point is where the trailer is on the ball, which defeats the load bearing and, other than short trips, isnt a good idea for safe towing. The only options that provide a deeper require a 2 1/2inch receiver.

It sounds like you're looking for a weight distribution shank with more drop to level the trailer and if that's the case we may have an option for you. In order to see how much you need, measure from the ground to the top inside edge of the receiver on the vehicle and then from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler while the trailer's level. The difference between these two measurements will be your rise/drop requirements.

The Curt Weight Distribution Shank part # C17121 for example offers up to 7" of drop using trunnion spring bars. I have attached our full list of shanks below if this won't work.
