How To Hook Up Battery Charge Line On RV and Towed Vehicle

Question:

In your video for installing the battery charge line in a 2020 Mirada RV, it states you need to replace the 6-way with a 7-way receptacle. But in the video to install the battery charge line in a 2010 Wrangler, it states to connect the red wire to the center of a 6-way receptacle. I have a 2018 Mirada and a 2006 Wrangler Id like to outfit for towing including the battery charge line. Do I need a 7-way on both sides or will the 6-way on the Jeep be ok?

In order to use a battery charge line like the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit part # RM-156-25 for towed vehicle or part # RM-156-75 for tow vehicles, you'll need a 7-way on the tow vehicle and a 6-way on the towed vehicle. The Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit part # RM-15267 has everything you need for the towed vehicle and then you'd just need the Hopkins Endurance Quick-Install 7-Way Trailer Connector with Universal Pigtail Harness part # HM47210 for the tow vehicle.

If you already have a trailer connector on the tow vehicle you can simply cut this off and attach the new one with the provided harness.
