Parts Needed To Change a 10,000LB Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Hitch to 14,000LBS
Question:
I’m looking to convert my 10K Equal-I-zer hitch to a 14k. To do so, do I only need to upgrade the ball, hitch head, and spring bars? Are the sway control brackets the same? My trailer is 12K. Is going up to the 14K hitch a problem? Thanks!

You are correct. You will only need the 14,000LB 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # EQ91-00-6140, Head # EQ90-02-1400 and Spring Bars # EQ90-01-1499 to convert your 10,000LB Hitch # EQ37100ET to a 14,000LB Hitch # EQ37140ET. The Sway Brackets # EQ95-01-5600 are going to be the same for the 6,000lb to 14,000lb kits.
The important measurement is going to be the tongue weight for your trailer. The 14,000lb hitch is rated for tongue weights of 1,000-1,400lbs and a trailer less than 14,000lbs. As long as your tongue weight falls into that measurement and your trailer weight does not exceed the maximum capacity it is the correct one for you.
The 1-7/8" 12pt Thin Walled Socket # ALL643216 is needed to install the hitch ball onto the new hitch head.
