Recommendation for Carrying a Motorcycle With a 2007 GMC Yukon While Towing a Small Camper

Question:

I currently tow a 2022 Coachman Clipper tent trailer with a 2007 GMC Yukon, 5.3L, with the factory tow package using an 8inch ball mount. Everything is level while towing. I am hoping to add a motorcycle carrier for a small motorcycle which I do not own yet that weighs about 240 lbs. and was wondering if I could use your 18foot hitch extender with step as a platform to add a c-channel steel rail to make my rack. I am planning on using wheel clamps in addition to tie downs. My current tongue weight maximum is 600 lbs. and the Clipper has a tongue weight of about 215 lbs. The trailer weight loaded is about 1,800 lbs. OR should I consider using a front hitch mount and a standard motorcycle carrier?

Helpful Expert Reply:

I recommend going with a Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # C31012 with the etrailer Motorcycle Carrier # e98873 to carry your motorcycle on your 2007 GMC Yukon. The Brophy Hitch Extender with Step # ST18 will only allow for 350lbs of tongue weight and you will exceed that with your motorcycle and the 2022 Coachman Clipper tent trailer weight.
