Recommended UnderBed Gooseneck System for a 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500

Question:

I have a 2016 Chevy 2500 Diesel. It has a towing package. Looking to install a gooseneck hitch.. There has never been a gooseneck hitch installed previously.. Need a hitch that mounts under bed and sure to need also the harness that will split off of the harness that runs to the bumper.. What all do need.. I will be installing this myself..

Thanks for the picture! To add a 5th wheel hitch with an underbed system, to your 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500, you will want the Elite Series Under-Bed Gooseneck Complete Hitch item # RP30158-68.

This system is identical to the factory puck system that Ford uses in their trucks. It has a 25,000 lbs and leaves your bed completely open when you are not towing. This kit includes the gooseneck ball and safety hooks you will need to tow your gooseneck trailer.

To add a 7-way to the bed of your Silverado, I recommend the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Connector - 10' Long item # C56000. This harness puts a 7-way connector in the bed of your truck and allows you to keep the one on your bumper. This makes hooking up to your gooseneck or 5th wheel trailer easier and more convenient.

I have linked a couple of installation videos below along with the instructions to help guide you through the install process. Please feel free to email me with any questions you may have.

If you ever plan on towing with a 5th wheel trailer you will need to know the information I have listed below.

Since your Silverado has the shorter 6-1/2' bed you will need a sliding hitch for making tight turns and backing into spaces. I recommend the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w Slider for Ford Towing Prep Package item # BWRVK3370.

The reason this 5th wheel hitch will fit your Chevy truck even though it says for Ford Towing Prep Package is because the Elite Series item # RP30158-68 you will be putting in your truck has the same pattern as the Ford trucks do when equipped from the factory. Hitches that say they fit the Chevy Puck System will NOT work with the Reese Elite.

The B&W Companion is one of the best hitches on the market it has a 20,000 lbs capacity and the slider base will provide you with 12" of travel for navigating tight turns. The Companion's 1" thick dual jaws will give you a 360-degree jaw to kingpin contact. This system minimizes the chucking, jarring and noise that can occur when towing a fifth wheel trailer. This not only provides a more secure connection but also a quieter more comfortable towing experience.
