Correct Wire Gauge For Trailer To Power Bulldog Winch

Question:

I recently purchased a Bulldog trailer winch from etrailers, 12,000 pounds, Model 10039. After reading the instructions, states to provide a 12 volt charging system from vehicle to winch battery when operating the winch. The winch is installed on an Econoline 24 foot flat-bed trailer. I need to install the correct gauge wire from my 7-way trailer receptacle to the location of the battery for the Bulldog Winch. The wiring distance is 25 feet. Since the manuals for the Bulldog winch do not state amps used during operation, I have been unable to determine correct gauge wire size as all charts cross-reference between distance and amperage use. So, what gauge wire should I install in my trailer wiring harness for the Bulldog trailer winch.

When it comes to wiring up your Bulldog winch we do have a few different wiring options that you could run depending on how heavy duty your winch is. If you have a heavier duty winch you can use The Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit # BDW20026 which uses 3 gauge wires.

I attached a review video link below.
