When choosing a weight distribution system you will need to go by the total tongue weight. This is calculated by taking the tongue weight of the trailer when loaded and ready to tow and then adding to that the weight of any cargo loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.

Tongue weight is typically 10 to 15 percent of the gross trailer weight. If your trailer weighs 6700 pounds that would make the tongue weight 670 to 1005 pounds. Based on this information alone a system rated for 600 to 1200 pounds would be the way to go.

I recommend the Reese Strait-Line system # RP66074. It comes with dual-cam sway control which stops sway before it starts by forcing the truck and trailer to ride in a straight line. I have included a link to the instructions and a video showing a typical installation for you.

This system does not come with a shank because you will need to choose one based on the rise or drop you need to tow the trailer level. I have included a link to the Reese shanks that fit 2 inch trailer hitches for you. I have also linked an FAQ article that explains how to measure for rise or drop.

Then you will just need a ball. For a 2-5/16 inch ball use # 19286 and for a 2 inch ball use # A-90. I have linked our FAQ articles on weight distribution and determining tongue weight for you.
