7-Way Trailer Connector Tab Wont Line Up with Notch on Receptacle
Question:
I have a brand new seven pin epi-cable and a brand new 2022 coachman clipper camper. When you plug the harness into the receptacle… The small tab that will hold the cable in place is not lining up properly with the plug. You cannot push the plug-in any further to get the little door to lock on top of the rubber stopper on the plug.… So the cable pulls out by itself while driving. How can I fix it? it looks like I have to shave off a little bit of the rubber on the stopper for it to fit. I think that’s strange. ??

It's possible that the plug or receptacle was made improperly. If you would like to try and shave some plastic off either side to make it work you're welcome to do so but I recommend switching them out so you don't ever have to worry about a loose fit or the plug/receptacle failing again. This is a great opportunity to upgrade as well to the EZ Connector Magnetic 7-Way Trailer Connectors part # 319-R7-01 which is soo much easier to plug in and remove.
