Can 12 Inch Wheels And Tires Be Replaced With 15 Inch Wheels And Tires On A Utility Trailer

Question:

How much ride height difference can I expect when switching from 12inch trailer wheels to 15inch wheel? I purchased a 2018 4runner. I own a 4x6 utility trailer and want the trailer to ride higher to match the 4runner. When I hooked it up for the 1st time it has 3-4inch of height difference. And want to level without using a hitch.

When switching from 12 inch wheels to 15 inch wheels you will want to make sure that you have the clearance needed for new tires and wheels. Going from 12 inch wheels to 15 inch wheels will raise the trailer substantially.

The 12 inch tires we sell range from about 20 to 22 inches in diameter. The Kenda Karrier # AM10140 has an outer diameter of 21.3 inches. If you put 15 inch tires on your trailer the diameter can range from 27 to 28-1/2 inches. The Karrier ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer # AM31957 has an outer diameter of 27.13 inches when inflated. The actual height difference of the trailer would only be half of the difference in tire/wheel size. For example if going from 12 inch to 15 inch wheels is a difference of 5 inch in tire height, the trailer will be raised by 2-1/2 inch.

You will have to match up the bolt pattern as well with what your current bolt pattern is on your utility trailer. I attached a few review video links below.
