Power Wire for a 7 Way on a 1996 Chevy Pick Up
Question:
I was told I need a power wire run from the front of my truck to the rear because it does not have one. Is this true? 1996 chevy p/u

If your 1996 Chevy pickup did not come with a factory 7 way, you will need to run a power wire from the battery back to a 7 way that you will install. However, if your trailer does not need an auxiliary power supply, you can omit running the power wire up to the battery.
I assume you will be needing to add a 7 Way plug. If you already have a 4 Way trailer connector, you will simply need part # ETBC7 to complete the installation of a 7 Way. If you do not already have a 4 Way connector you will need part # 118315 as well.
