Can Derale Transmission Cooler # D1350405 Bypass 2005 Nissan Pathfinder Radiator
Question:
Is it OK to just bypass the radiator without installing an additional oil cooler if the truck has the towing package? How much difference would that make? Would the transmission get to hot on a long trip of about 13 hours?

The Derale Series Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler, part # D13504, is designed to be used as a supplement to your cooling system and not meant to be used as a replacement for the OEM system you have on your 2005 Nissan Pathfinder. This cooler features furnace-brazed aluminum construction and 3/4 inch wide turbulator plates. This cooler measures 11 inches wide by 12 inches tall by 7/8 inches deep. This also includes the complete mounting kit. I have linked you to a product review video for this cooler and also a video that show an installation of this transmission cooler.
Transmission coolers are not vehicle specific, so you will want to take some measurements to make certain you have sufficient space to mount any cooler.
As far as the transmission getting too hot on a long trip, there are several factors that could affect the transmission, such as the weight of the cargo you are carrying or towing, and terrain would certainly play a part in how much stress is placed on the transmission.
