Eliminating Wobble and Movement in a Yakima Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack

Question:

I have 2 inch receiver and 2 inch bike rack. There is way too much sway when rack is placed in receiver. Bikes bounce up and down and side to side when driving. I measured the receiver and the hitch tongue and they are both 2 inches. What can I do to remedy this?

You can use an anti-rattle device such as # SHP2082 as long as the shank on the bike rack is hollow. If it is not hollow then use anti-rattle device # MPG908. I have included a link to a video review of device # MPG908 for you.

It is also possible that inside the shank of your Yakima bike rack there is a weld nut that accepts a threaded hitch pin. To determine which pin will fit I would need to know the model of the bike rack.

Hi Michael, I have the same issue, can you explain more about the "weld nut that accepts a threaded hitch pin"? Specifically I had a 2 inch receiver "EcoHitch Invisi Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" and a 2 inch bike rack "Yakima, RidgeBack 4 Hitch Mount". Thanks in advance.
