Troubleshooting Dexter BrakeRite Master Cylinder Cap Busting Off
Question:
My actuator caps T4830600 have 4 slots with 4 detents that only snap on and off. I’ve seen a Titan video showing theirs unscrewing with caps in the threads. When I attempt to unscrew them counter clockwise with a .6 point socket, they simply unsnap and have no threads. The rubber plungers are then separated and I have to reach in and pull them out before filling. Am I missing something? Is the cap two parts with a threaded portion and a cap that is separating when I attempt to remove?

It sounds like you're busting off the top part of the Replacement Master Cylinder Cap # T4830600 with your tool and the lower threaded portion is remaining stuck in the actuator unit. For your application you'll need to use some pliers or other tool to turn the lower part counter-clockwise to fully remove them and then replace the caps using the part above for ones that aren't broken.
When you install the new caps I recommend doing it by hand and just making sure they are snug to try to avoid this same issue from happening in the future.
