Best Way To Secure Hobie 9 Sport Kayak on 2022 Toyota Highlander  

Question:

I carry my 9-ft Hobie Sport for short/local distances inside the back of my 2022 Highlander I will use a trailer if I go farther or go on a major highway. Only a little bit of the Sport sticks out of rear hatch, but this prevents fully closing the rear hatch. How can I secure the rear hatch so it doesnt flip up and down as I drive? Is there a post that fits into the hatchs latch mechanism, or something else I can do.

I do have an option for you but the best way to secure your kayak would be on the roof with a roof rack and kayak carrier. I recommend the Yakima HD Crossbar System part # Y01157, part # Y28TR, part # Y03541, part # Y06153, and part # Y06132 with the Yakima BigCatch Kayak Carrier part # Y04091. The BigCatch is designed specifically for these larger kayak so it will work great for you.

Unfortunately, we don't have any hatch prop options.
