If Trailer Disconnected Error Message is On Dash Are Trailer Brakes Active

Question:

I have this 7-way round adapter to 5 pin flat on my 2013 Ford F250. How do I know if my trailer brakes are working because my truck info screen tells me trailer is disconnected, yet all the turn signals and running lamps work fine.

Based on the error message you mentioned seeing your trailer brakes are not working. The circuit that controls the trailer brakes is also the one that is tied to the trailer connection messaging. So since yours is saying no trailer is connected your trailer brakes are not working. Typically this problem is just dirty pins on the trailer wiring connectors that cleaning with sandpaper fixes. It can also be related to the adapter you mentioned having. A lot of times the 5th circuit of a 5-way adapter is for the reverse light circuit so you might verify how it's wired up.
