How do I unhook the trailer from the 5th wheel hookup?

With the truck and trailer parked as level and straight as can be make sure that the landing gear on the trailer is down so it is supporting but not lifting up the trailer. The wheels on the trailer should be chocked as well so it cannot roll forward or backward. Then you will need to pull the handle on the 5th wheel hitch # RP30928 to the unlocked position to open the jaws.
With the trailer supporting itself and the jaws unlocked you will pull the truck away. If the jaws will not open then there is probably some tension on them from the trailer and you may need to move the truck forward or backward ever so slightly to release that tension and then try to open the jaws again.
Make sure to read and follow the hitch instructions for complete information on your particular hitch and unhooking and hooking up procedures.
