Canister Depth For The Pace UltraGroove Retractable Tonneau Cover For A 2011 Ford F-250

Question:

I have a truck camper that I occasionally use and need to know how much space is used for the open top and canister. The distance from the back of the bed to the front lip of the open top.

The canister of the Pace Edwards UltraGroove Retractable Hard Tonneau Cover # 311-KRF6985 is 9-3/4" in depth so you can expect it to stick out that far past the upper railing of your bed. Another factor here is going to be the railing that will run the length of your bed on each side. You'd be looking at that railing sticking out into the bed approximately 2" on each side so it would narrow the available space in your bed for the camper.

This is a fairly common issue and one of the easiest solutions to it is to use the Extang Solid Fold 2.0 Hard Tonneau Cover # EX83720 instead. This cover clamps onto the lip of the bedrails without the need of bulky rails and can be easily removed and reinstalled in a couple of minutes.
