What Gauge Wire Should be Used When Wiring Up Trailer Brakes

Question:

i have 5 cars trailer with 3 axles , the brakes is very low so i rewire all brakes but i noticed the volt comming from the truck to the first brake before i connect it it was 13.5 v with the engine running but when i connect the first wheel it to 12.8 v when i applied the brake controller to the max and when i connect the second wheel it to 12v and third it to 11.4 v and by the time i connect the last one it was 10v , on all the wheel so is this normal . i do not beleive the 10v is strong enough to stop me in emergency , . any idea , i believe if i connect just four wheel i will be better off because i will have close to 12v , what do you recommend thanks

What gauge wire did you use and how did you ground the assemblies? You want at least 10 gauge wire like the part # 10-1-1 that you referenced otherwise you'll have voltage drop.
