Will the Draw-Tite Hitch for a 2019 Chevy Impala Reduce Ground Clearance
Question:
I was wondering if this hitch will cause problems if I am driving up or down a steep slope or incline. Will it cause drag, and will it damage the hitch, or the vehicle if it does? I’m trying to see if this is the best option for my 2019 Chevy Impala. I would like to put a bike rack on the back so I can carry a few bikes. I have a trunk mount bike rack, but I just don’t trust it that well and want to try a hitch mount type rack for my bikes.

The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 36538 which is a fit for a 2019 Chevrolet Impala will reduce your ground clearance but only slightly, the receiver tube is tucked right under the bumper. It's possible that the hitch will scrape going up steep driveways but worse case it scratches the hitch a bit, it won't damage the vehicle. Unfortunately, this is just something you'll have to be aware of with steep driveways as there are no other trailer hitch options with better ground clearance for this vehicle.
That said, it's definitely worth the switch from a trunk mount bike rack. The hitch rack will be easier to use, easer to load bikes onto, more accommodating to different bike types, and creates less stress on the vehicle. For a bike rack that mounts to the hitch, I recommend checking out the Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack part # HLY94FR.
