Determining If Electric Trailer Brakes Can Be Added To a 1965 Oasis Trailer With 5 Bolt Brake Flange
Question:
I have a 1965 Oasis trailer with a square axle and a round 5 bolt flange, so do I need to have a new 4 bolt flange welded on or is there something made for that? I want to add electric brakes!

You may be able to add brakes like the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit # 23-464-465 that uses a 5 bolt brake flange to your 1965 Oasis Trailer. You will need to remove one of your hubs to measure the bearing and grease seal landings on your spindle to determine it there is a 12" hub that will fit with your spindle. Based on those measurements we will be able to determine if you can use the 12" brakes, will need a Flange # 4-35 to add the smaller 10" brakes, or if you may need a new axle all together. Please let me know what measurements you have based on the included image.
