Can Demco Spare Tire Carrier Bolts for Holding Spare Tire be Swapped Out

Thinking of using my own provided lug bolts to replacement the products fine-thread lug bolts. Is there any reason I could not do that if I want to ?

If you wanted to swap out the bolts from the Demco Spare Tire Carrier for Bolt-On Swivel Jack # DM15853-52 that hold the tire for something you already have I see no issues with doing this as long as you know the bolts are a strong enough material to hold the spare tire safely while you're on the road.

You may consider adding a lock like the Spare Tire Lock # FSTL0603 to discourage tampering with the spare tire. This lock fits 9/16" wheel studs so you'll need to verify that on your end.

I do have an option for you but the Spare Tire Lock part FSTL0603 is not currently available. Instead, I recommend the Wheel Lock Set for 1/2" Wheel Bolts part #RG01-150 which you can use on both the spare wheel and in-use wheels. This is a more…

The Demco #DM15853-52 has 1/2" x 1-1/4" grade 5 bolt with fine threads (.50NF) so you'll want to use 1/2" nuts with a fine thread to secure your tires.

In order to determine the torque rating for the lug nuts on your trailer you will need to know check out the chart I attached that shows all of the torque specs for all the trailer lugs available based on stud size, wheel material and wheel size.
