Will etrailer Trailer Hitch For 2011 Nissan Rogue Allow Hatch to Open w/ Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack
Question:
I am getting close to making my decision on a hitch and platform bike rack and would like an expert opinion just to make sure I havent messed up with any of my research. I have a 2011 Nissan Rogue and am looking to purchase the E98846 trailer hitch and the Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack for 2 #KU84FR. With the Kuat Transfer I want to make sure that I will have enough clearance for my tailgate to open. Also, as I understand, i can carry two bikes that can weigh between 40-60 pounds. What other additional accessories might I need to make sure Ive got all the essentials. Thank you for your insight and help.

Excellent choices for your 2011 Nissan Rogue, and you will indeed be able to open the rear hatch with the hitch and Kuat rack you asked about:
- etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98846
- Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack # KU84FR
With no bikes on the rack, you will have full rear hatch access, opening it up completely without issue. If you have bikes on the rack, when you tilt the rack down - depending on how long the handlebars on your bikes are - it may not allow the hatch to go all the way up. That said, the hatch will be open enough for you to access whatever you need to take out/put in the cargo area of your Rogue.
As for the weight rating, you are correct, as the Transfer V2 has a 60 lb per-bike capacity, so you can carry two bikes weighing 40 to 60 lbs each. And for accessories, the only thing you may need is an adapter if your bikes have fat tires; if your bikes have tires that are up to 3" wide then you're all set, but for tires between 3" and up to 5" you'd just need the Phat Bike Adapter Kit # APBK.
