I want to buy an LED puck light but in the video he says I need a mounting plate. What is this and how can I get one?

The LED RV Interior Light with Switch # 328-K-1050Q9 that you referenced is it's own mounting plate as it is a surface mount style of interior light. To install this you'd remove the lens and then using the mounting holes on the backing plate attach it to your ceiling. No additional mounting plate is needed.
