Are Additional Parts Needed for Fastway e2 Switching from 2014 Dodge Caravan to 2022 Ford Ranger
Question:
Hi! I have this product for towing my pop-up camper with my 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan. Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control - Trunnion - 4,500 lbs GTW, 450 lbs TW. I recently got a 2022 Ford Ranger and I would like to be able to tow the camper with both vehicles. I believe the height of the tow hitch on the Ranger is higher than the hitch on the van. Im wondering if I need to get additional parts to connect to the Ranger. I dont want to have to make a lot of adjustments to the hitch each time I tow depending on the vehicle Im using. Do you have any advise on this? Thanks!

If anything you would need a different shank for your # FA92-00-0450. The easiest way to determine if a new one is needed is by following the installation instructions for your weight distribution hitch.
If you are unable to get the hitch ball height to match the coupler height you will need a different shank. Measure the difference in the height to determine how much additional rise/drop you need. The one you have now has a maximum rise of 6" and maximum drop of 2". The following are available:
-Fastway e2 Weight Distribution Shank - 12" Long - 10-1/4" Rise, 5-1/2" Drop - 1,200 lbs TW # FA92-02-4214
-Fastway e2 Weight Distribution Shank - 12" Long - 12-1/2" Rise 9-3/4" Drop - 1.2K TW # FA92-02-4315
Since you're moving from a van to a truck it is also worth noting that the tongue weight includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your vehicle. This is something to keep in mind if you plan on adding a lot of extra cargo in the back of your truck.
