Pin Box Replacement Solution for 1716 that will Stop Tonneau Cover Rail Interference

Question:

I currently have a 2007 GMC 1 Ton long bed and am towing a 2018 Open range 5th wheel MY current situation is my stock pin box is a Lippert 1716 Two issues when towing , 1 make 90 turns the back of the pin box hits my tonneau cover rails on the truck bed because of the length of the 1716 The trailer rides high but I cant lower the hitch because of the pin box Length Can I switch to the shorter lippert 1116 To elevate the pin box hitting the bed rails and lowering the front of the trailer to level it I currently have 2 feet from the bumber to 5th wheel as far as height from bed rails the fifth wheel has 5inch in the back and 6inch in the front which tells me I need to lower it 1

Since in your pictures it looks like the pin box is hitting the sides of the tonneau cover rails when you turn your best pin box replacement solution will be a Sidewinder with the part # RP77FR to replace your 1716. What this will do is move your pivot point up higher by a significant amount which will then allow the truck to turn without the interference. This also will allow your trailer to track better behind your truck and will make it easier to back up. You would not be able to replace a 1716 with a 1116.
